Career Highlights:

Oshie will be playing in his first Olympics in the midst of his sixth NHL season, but the Blues forward is not without international experience. He played for the U.S. in the 2006 World Juniors and for the senior national team in the 2009 Worlds, then stood out with four goals and two assists in six games at the Worlds one year later. It’s his play with St. Louis, however, that earned him a spot in Sochi. Oshie is known as a high-energy player who’s capable of creating chances with his speed and grit, but there have been downsides to that mile-a-minute mentality - namely serious ankle injuries that robbed him of parts of three seasons. But Oshie has been healthy in 2013-14 and producing, recording 46 points to tie him for the team lead with Alexander Steen while playing primarily on a line with top scorers Steen and David Backes. Both those linemates will be heading to Sochi as well, and while Steen is expected to play a major role for Sweden, Oshie figures to find himself flanked by Backes on a line for the U.S. Oshie is more than just a force on the offensive end, leading the Blues in short-handed ice time among forwards. Blues coach Ken Hitchcock has called Oshie the ‘conscience’ of his team, and it’s easy to see why. When Oshie has recorded a point this season, St. Louis is 23-1-2. If he continues to produce in Sochi like he has in St. Louis, the Americans may find themselves in medal contention.
