Surgery for Rodgers, season may be over

That's how the Green Bay Packers felt after learning Monday that quarterback Aaron Rodgers would need surgery for the broken right collarbone he suffered in a 23-10 loss to Minnesota Sunday.

Pitino officially fired amid FBI probe

(TSX / STATS) -- The University of Louisville's athletic board voted unanimously Monday to fire Rick Pitino as men's basketball head coach in the wake of an FBI investigation into fraud and corruption in college basketball.

The University of Louisville Athletic Association voted to terminate Pitino's contract "with just cause" despite an argument from Pitino's lawyers. The board voted unanimously two weeks ago to initiate the process of dismissing Pitino for cause. (MORE)

Spurs extend F Aldridge 3 years, $72M

(TSX / STATS) -- Five-time All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge agreed to terms on a three-year, $72.3 million contract extension with the San Antonio Spurs, multiple outlets reported on Monday.

The deal will keep Aldridge under contract with the Spurs through the 2020-21 season. (MORE)

Bowman joining Raiders for 1 year, $3M

(TSX / STATS) -- The Oakland Raiders signed linebacker NaVorro Bowman to a contract, the team announced Monday.

Terms of the deal were not announced by the club, but multiple outlets reported it was a one-year contract for $3 million. (MORE)

Winston day to day with shoulder sprain

(TSX / STATS) -- TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got good news on quarterback Jameis Winston.

He is listed as "day-to-day" after an MRI exam revealed a sprained AC joint in his right throwing shoulder, but it showed no structural damage, head coach Dirk Koetter said Monday. (MORE)
