(TSX / STATS) -- The Los Angeles Angeles acquired right-hander Felix Pena from the Chicago Cubs on Monday.

The Angels will send a player to be named later or cash considerations to Chicago in exchange for Pena, Los Angeles general manager Billy Eppler said.

Pena, 27, made 25 appearances -- all in relief -- for the Cubs, posting a 1-0 record with a 5.24 ERA. He had a 4.00 ERA with one save in 11 appearances with Chicago in 2016.

To make room for Pena on the 40-manroster, the Angels designated left-hander Jason Gurka for assignment.

Gurka, 29, made three appearances for Los Angeles this season, allowing three hits in two-thirds of an inning. He gave up 18 runs and 32 hits over 17 1/3 innings with Colorado during the previous two seasons.
